Monday Muses

Flew away

The meadows were bright but deep green,
With rolling hills and valley's, rolling this way and that.
The sky was bright and blue,
Full of puffy white clouds, float around.
A young girl, ever so light on her petite feet, danced across the field,
A glowing golden ribbon in her gentle hands
Which was tied to a plain yet stunning kite the flew in the breezes of the wind.
Made of all types of paper, plastered together.
Engaging yellows and majestic reds,
Arresting greens and brilliant blues, topped off with mesmerizing, velvet violets,
Blended together to become the perfect mix.
But all different, unique and individual.
Some of the things on the kite made her cry, some laugh,
Some happy, some sad.
But all smiles all around, everywhere near and far.
But then the wind blew, tearing it all apart.
Pieces went swirling in every direction.
The ribbon lost it's shine and flew out of her hands and slipped away from from her hands.
She gasped and chased them, but couldn't catch them
They were too far away, flying away, away in the distance.
Storm clouds rolled in, the striking sound of thunder, the blazing white of a lightening striking,
Stopping her from following them, standing in her path.
Ice cold rain showered her as she cried soft, warm tears.
The kite flew away, but soon and suddenly was beat by a lightening.
It crashed to the ground, on fire, burning to ashes.
Thunder rolled in, sounding like a cold blooded            laugh.
The girl stood there, both paralyzed and mesmerized   by the beauty and ruins of total destruction.

  3. Ok wow. Literally this poem painted (or drew, maybe with some oil pastels?) such an image in my mind. I nearly cried along with that girl when her kite flew away. Breathtaking, that's the word I was looking for.
